Edmonton Community Dance at Lorelei-Beaumaris Community Hall
Edmonton Community Dance (North) is not a high end Dance Studio geared to competition. It offers fun and progressive dance lessons in community halls, recreational facilities, and churches located in the communities north of the North Saskatchewan River. This is a recreational program that culminates with a large performance at the end of session two, and several in house performances for the very young students.
Baby Ballet & Creative Movement (3 - 5 yr olds)
This class is offered to introduce dance to the young student in a fun way. It gives the dancer a variety of Ballet, Creative Movement, and Song & Dance all in one session, which will be covered throughout the year. This class is an excellent start for the preschooler.
Ballet (5 1/2 yrs & up)
This dance class is offered to introduce Ballet to the beginner no matter what age. Emphasis is placed on proper body placement, feet & arm positions, and working towards proper ballet posture. Both character and classical Ballet is introduced at all levels.
Jazz (5 1/2 yrs & up)
Jazz is offered to help strengthen the upper body with the emphasis on flexibility. Correct posture and coordination are very important while learning the basic dance skills. Hip-Hop and Ballet is also introduced to the dancers in Jazz.
Hip-Hop (8 yrs & up)
Using funk and popular dance music, the class explores the culture, music and dance of Hip-Hop. Elements of poppin', lockin', uprockin', and breakin' are explored using todays most popular music, Coordination is very important while learning the basic Hip-Hop dance skills.
Adult Combination Class (18 yrs & up)
This class is for those adults who want to have a little fun while learning dance. This combination class involves stretching, Jazz, Ballet and Hip-Hop. Most adults in the class are beginners or have taken dance many years ago. No experience is necessary, just come and have fun while learning some new dance moves.
