Play Ball! Community Softball steps up to the plate

Most of our players have been amalgamated with nearby communities but thanks to the great interest and registrations we will be hosting our very own U6 T-ball team this year. We look forward to this trend and hope to have even more teams next year!  Softball will get going soon and we wish all of our players and teams well!  We would like to thank Crystal Wimpney for stepping forward to be our Softball Director to help get things taken care of this season. If you have any softball questions please contact softballlbcl@gmail.com

Community Soccer set to take to the pitch.

We will be hosting 10 soccer teams this spring (three teams at U4, one team at U6, two U8 Boys teams, one U8 Girls team, one U10 Boys, one U12 Boys, and one U18 Girls.  It has been very difficult to find coaches this year; we rely solely on volunteers to coach, usually parents from the team.  Unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate all of our registered players due to a lack of coaches; sadly we lost two U6 teams by sending the players elsewhere or refunding money and the players will not play this year. Luckily most teams have parent volunteers coaching and fortunately we have some teams being coached by Grant MacEwan University students who came to the call for volunteers when our soccer director asked.  We truly appreciate everyone who stepped forward to coach and assistant coach this year!

Soccer is scheduled to start the first week of May.  You should hear from your coach by the last week of April.  If you have any soccer inquires please contact our Soccer Director, Jennifer, by email at soccerlbcl@gmail.com

For more info, check out our Soccer Page.

A few soccer reminders…

Spring Fling Smartie Pants Dance was a rocking success!

The Board would like to thank our Social Directors Sonya and Maria for putting together a fun-filled night of music, dancing, sparkle tattoos, snacks, and children hanging out with friends!  We had approximately 110 children attend the event!  We would like to extend a huge thanks to Grant and Yvonne, owners of Papa Murphy’s Take and Bake Pizza Oxford Location (152 Ave & 127 St) for providing our attendees with FREE pizza!  We would also like to thank all other volunteers and helpers for making this event a success.

Spring Fling Smartie Pants Dance on April 11

Would you like a night out with your partner, without the kids?  Are your children always asking for playdates and to have friends over?  Why not let them have their friend fun and you a night off while they dance, sing, and jump the night away at our Spring Fling Smartie Pants Dance.

The dance is on Saturday, April 11 from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm and is for children 6 - 12 years of age. Cost is $3.00 for LBCL members and $5.00 for non-members. There will be snacks for sale and door prizes.

All children must be signed in and signed out by an adult 18 years or older.

Welcome to LBCL's new website!

The LBCL Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank Pep Tavano for all his many hours of hard work and dedication in setting up and maintaining our previous site, and for helping to get our new site up and running.

U6 Soccer coaches still needed!

LBCL is still looking for coaches for the upcoming season. We require male and female coaches for our U6 teams. If we do not have coaches, then we will have to transfer registered players to other community teams. We would love to have our children stay in the community to play for the Tigers!

Please consider stepping up as a coach. It's a ton of fun, and the kids will love you for it. If you're at all nervous about coaching, contact our Soccer Director, Jenn, and she will put your mind at ease. Remember, it's not about building a winning dynasty, it's about having fun on the pitch and watching our children grow.

Please contact Jenn if you are interested. If we do not have coaches by Friday, March 27, we will have to transfer our players.

Thank you.
