Thank you, Jenn!

The Board would like to thank Jennifer Roppelt for her years of dedication as Soccer Director, and more recently as Membership Director for LBCL. Jenn and her family are moving from the community and so she is stepping down as both Soccer Director and Membership Director. Jenn has volunteered many, many hours to facilitate a strong community soccer programme in our community, and we will be sad to see her go.

As Jenn steps down we have been fortunate to have two members of our community step up to take on her positions. Our amazing Social Director, Sonya Harriott will take on the additional role of Membership Director, and Kim Yellowknee will join our board to take over the role of Soccer Director. Thank you both! Our community is only as strong as our members, and we are pleased to have such dedicated community members willing to give their time and talents to the families of Lorelei Beaumaris. Indoor Soccer Registration is now Live

The EMSA North registration for Fall Indoor Soccer is now up and running!

Registration sessions for 2015 Fall Indoor Soccer will be held in the Rink Shack at the Lorelei Beaumaris Hall:

• September 10, 2015: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
• September 12, 2015: 2:00pm - 4:00pm (late registration)
• September 15, 2015: 7:00pm - 9:00pm (late registration)

Please be sure to complete the online registration and bring a printed copy of the registration with you to the registration session.

Girl Guides in Lorelei Beaumaris

Girl Guides is for girls 9-11 years old and offers weekly meetings where they explore a variety of experiences and topics relevant to today’s youth. Today’s Guiding is a safe, inclusive, all-girl environment that invites girls to challenge themselves, find their voice, meet new friends and make a difference in the world. Girl Guides has over 70,000 girls and young women members, with leadership provided by more than 18,000 dedicated volunteers.

Spring Sports Shout Outs

Our outdoor soccer and softball seasons have now passed and we would like to thank all the participants, supporting family members, and volunteers for their time and dedication.  Special thanks to the following volunteers who made it possible for our children to participate:

U6 Softball – The Lorelei-Beaumaris T-Ball was big success this year. It was great to have our first softball team in a long while and we are looking to having even more next year. A big thank you to coaches Evan Seymour and Jennifer Ogorman throughout the season.

Recent repairs to LBCL Hall

Having a hall is a critical part of our ability to function as a community league.  It is our storage, our meeting space, our special events space, provides rental income, and gives us a centre point for our programs, activities, and community. We have recently made some changes to our hall to add an office space and to repair a very old and leaking roof.  We would like to thank the following for helping make our hall better:

• Mustafa at Benjamin Moore Paint at Namao Centre for donating paint and supplies for our office renovation.
• Tom at MTD Contracting for donating his time, and MTD for donating the supplies needed to replace a pipe that was leaking at our front entrance.
• Tim and his crew at Acron Roofing Systems who have helped us with the financial aspect and timely repairs to our hall roof.  Our roof repairs were a huge expense (about $115,000) and we have had to commit a large portion of our casino money towards it along with looking for government grants to assist us. Acron assisted with making the repairs possible before all money was in place as well, they have been great to work with on this project.
• Tina Hoult, Lorna Lewis, and Belinda Lalonde for making arrangements for all the roof repairs and finally the roof redo.

On behalf of the Community, the Board would like to thank "Bingo" Barb Dyer as she steps down from the position of Bingo Director. Over the years Barb has committed many hours to the coordinating of bingo volunteers that are crucial to the funding of our community programs.

The Return of Movies on the Square

Starting in August Direct Energy and the City of Edmonton will once again be presenting Movies on the Square. Each Tuesday in August come to Sir Winston Churchill Square to watch a family favourite film for FREE! Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the fabulous pre-movie entertainment before taking in the blockbuster hit that will be playing on a 3-storey high inflatable screen. Closed captioning will be offered when available.

All movies will begin at dusk with pre-movie entertainment starting at 7:00pm.
