Rink Update

This year we have one rink open. The cost of maintaining the rink and the lack of fundraising we have been able to do through Bingo’s and Casinos during the pandemic has affected the service we can provide in the community. We will have the rinks open for Free-skate and Shiny (as long as restrictions allow us to) on the weekends. To ensure we are meeting guidelines and possible COVID-19 tracing, we ask that sign-ups be done including the name of each person on the ice along with contact information for each person. We understand that multiple people will most likely be from the same household but to ensure no one is missed this will be important. The sign-up sheet for each week will open Monday at 6:00 pm.

The rink will be available for bookings as long as we are allowed. To help open up the rink for families and meet the costs of maintaining the rink.

Rink bookings are $200 for 2 hours for up to 10 people. It’s a great way to ensure you have the ice for just you and your cohort.

YMCA re-opening

The YMCA has received word that the City of Edmonton will provide support to the Castle Downs Family YMCA of up to 1 million. This will allow for the re-opening of our local YMCA when restrictions lift. Services such as health, fitness and aquatic programs have been closed at the location since April and are missed among many in the community.

Stormwater Safety

The largest stormwater lake in Edmonton is Beaumaris Lake. While we love the lake for all it brings to the community, understanding how to enjoy it safely is important. This video provided by EPCOR shows how the lake works.

Christmas Tree Collection

Christmas tree recycling will occur between January 11th and January 31st. The City of Edmonton asks that you have your tree un-bagged next to the rest of your garbage ready for pickup by 7 am January 11th and that the area is kept free of snow and ice.

If you live in an apartment or condo please take your trees to an Eco Station. Disposal of these will be free from December 28th to January 30th.
